Leicester Comedy Festival returns in February 2023
Leicester Comedy Festival returns for it’s 30th year celebration and it’s going to be bigger and better than ever before! This year’s Festival essentially dominates the month of February running from Wednesday 8th – Sunday 26th February 2023.
You can expect to see some old favourites return, some comedy veterans as well as all of the up-and-comers you’d expect to see at the prestigious laughter-inducing festival as they appear at venues throughout the City. During the festival spectators will witness a large array of comedy styles in a variety of events and shows across Leicester and Leicestershire so keep an eye out and prepare for some side-splitting comedy.
The opening show for this years’ festival is the Gala Preview Show which will be hosted by none other than current “I’m a Celebrity…” star and hilarious comedian Seann Walsh, which takes place on Friday 6th January. Once the ‘official’ festival begins the Leicester Comedy Festival hosts The UK Pun Championships, now in its tenth year, which is to be hosted by returning comedian Jason Byrne and this takes place on Monday 13th February. This year, The Big Difference Comedy Fundraiser will be headlined than none other than the fantastic Milton Jones as he is joined by a spectacular line-up of fellow comedians for a night that will have you in stitches and this event takes place on Thursday 16 February.
Over the course of the last three decades Leicester Comedy Festival has grown exponentially, and even though it had to go virtual for a few years the festival continues to flourish. This year the festival hosted over five hundred comedy shows in Leicester, which included over eight hundred shows spread over sixty four venues.
The festival is produced by a registered charity, Big Difference who work year round to improve people’s lives through comedy, laughter and the arts. Tickets are on sale now and we recommend purchasing quick as these events will sell out.
