Spooky Season - Twycross Zoo edition
It’s Halloween with a twist, let your family experience an October fiesta half term holidays in Twycross zoo!
Taking inspiration from the Mexican Day of the Dead, you and the family will be able to take part in a range of activities, watch live entertainment and learn all about animals from all over the world. The Mexican celebrations will be running from 22nd – 30th October (half term week). Below we highlight what the Twycross Zoo has on offer for the week.
Twycross Ofrenda
As you enter Twycross you’ll come across the Ofrenda, a traditional altar that is colourfully decorated with candles and flowers. This alter is a place where guests can give thanks for animals and loved ones who are no longer with us.
Mariachi Loco
If you plan ahead and select the right date and time you’ll be able to enjoy the music of a traditional mariachi band who will be equipped with all the traditional instruments and clothing.
The Journey of the Butterflies
Take part in celebrating one of the most majestic butterflies in existence, the Monarch, get your picture taken with one of the butterfly performers or take part in creating your own for the butterfly craft wall the zoo has on display to signify the migration that happens annually.
Arts and Crafts
Feeling creative? Visit the arts and crafts station where you can take part in making your own Mexican themed mask or even your own flower bouquet.
Traditional Games
Twycross Zoo are teaming up with Itzatna Arts to bring you a host of traditional Central and South American games. Learn and then take part in the games to give you an authentic Mexican experience.
Storytelling
Collaborating with Itzanta Arts once again, join Alfredo and Sebas who will be diving into the themes of life and death and how they are incorporated into Mexican culture.
Facepainting
Treat your little ones to face painting this half term! From sugar skulls and skeletons to pumpkins and more! Additional charges apply.
